FROM THE PASTORAL SEARCH COMMITTEE
“God doesn't call the qualified He qualifies the called.” (1 Corinthians 1:27-29)
I think Paul could have had your Pastoral Search Committee in mind when he penned those words. We are all aware that the mission you gave us is very important to the future of our congregation. You elected us to fulfill your desire for a godly man to teach us and shepherd us and show God’s love to us and to the community.
Knowing that, we are prayerfully executing the search. Just this past month, the search committee
completed several phone interviews, studied resumes for additional candidates, and listened to candidate sermons, which could include multiple sermons from each. We are looking forward to scheduling additional interviews, if necessary, with the goal of finding the best “fit”. The next steps would be a second interview, then a recommendation to the Session, then a visit from that candidate to COR. A candidate visit would
include delivering a sermon and an opportunity for all of you to meet him.
Whew! It seems the process is taking a long time. But we do see light at the end of the tunnel. The most important step that the committee utilizes is prayer. We need all of you to partner with us in keeping the process in prayer. Help us find the man God wants to pastor here. Your elected committee members, Janie Stanford, Polly Philpott, Chuck Thomsen, Elias Reyes, Roxi Ashurst, Debbie Barnard, Joan Stoner, Brigitte Bradley, Mike Ashby, George Neserke and Karen Cooper are prayerfully continuing with the hiring process. If you ever have any questions in regard to that process, please do not hesitate to flag us down. We welcome your interest and want to share our progress. The committee members are grateful for all your support thus far. We look forward to working together until God delivers the pastor we have all been waiting for. With the Holy Spirit’s help…
Blessings, Karen Cooper, Pulpit Committee Chair
