God is creating something new and beautiful in the Flagstaff community and it's called the Church of the Resurrection! Who is this Bob Norton person?
Bob is an enthusiastic baby-boomer who loves God and loves people. He is married to Robin Long who works at NAU. He has six children: his four grown children are Abby, Jay, Peter and Molly and his two stepsons still at home are Callum and Matthew. He enjoys writing, hiking, and golf. He also serves as a Chaplain (LtCol) in the Arizona Air National Guard and volunteers as the Chaplain for the Flagstaff Police Department.
Will I like him?
Most people do. Bob is a good listener. He genuinely cares about people. And he has the gift of encouragement. He’s a gifted spiritual life coach.
Can I trust him?
People often say, “I don’t care how much you know until I know how much you care.” Bob cares. He’s a faithful pastor. He operates in friendship and ministry with a strict code of confidentiality. You can tell him your story and know that he can keep confidences. He served as the Senior Pastor at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church here in Flagstaff for 16 years ministering to hundreds of people and building the congregation to 800 members. He’s a seasoned, wise pastoral caregiver with an outstanding track record and reputation in the community.
Does he have a vision for the church?
Yes, an empowering vision! He would love to spend time with you at one of his annex offices like Campus Coffee Bean or Barnes and Noble and share his vision for the church. Look at our Core Values and you’ll get a glimpse of some of the tenets of this new church. The church will be a place of love and laughter. The church will faithfully communicate the life-giving truths of God’s Word. This church will be missional - being salt and light in the Flagstaff community. It will be a church where people are treated right - with dignity, respect, kindness, and authentic love because people matter to God.
Does he know how to get us there?
Yes, Pastor Bob is a gifted spiritual leader who empowers people. He continually casts a vision of a God-honoring, Christ- centered, Bible-teaching church and then motivates the people to implement the steps necessary to become the church which brings glory to God. He has over 30 years of experience in developing life-giving churches. He knows how to bring spiritual renewal and how to grow a church.
How does he need me to help?
We need each person to volunteer and be a part of the team to build this great church. Pastor Bob and other church leaders would be glad to meet with you and discuss how you might volunteer so that your unique gifts and abilities might be best utilized. You are a special gift from God. Your help in practical ways will be critical in strengthening and nurturing this new church. Yes, you are needed!
